Winners of Technology4Good Awards 2013

The winners of this year’s Technology4Good Awards were announced by broadcaster Mariella Frostrup at a glittering Awards Ceremony hosted by BT on 4 July. Winners included Barclays Bank for installing accessible ATMs, Code Club for teaching primary school children the forgotten art of computer programming and The Big Give, a website that helped charities raise over £10m last Christmas. This year's Ceremony also included a Special Award for Dame Stephanie Shirley who shared her amazing life story as an IT pioneer and one of the UK's most generous philanthropists.

The Technology4Good Awards are organised by Abilitynet and BT and supported by a host of business and not for profit partners. This year's winners are:

Barclays Bank
Accessibility Award 2013 sponsored by AbilityNet and BATA

Mobile for Good Europe Awards: 200.000€ prize fund

With four categories available to enter, developers, researchers, social entrepreneurs and other professionals can compete for a share of a 200,000 Euro prize fund. Winners of the awards are selected following the evaluation of a professional jury across two rounds.

The Vodafone Foundation Mobile for Good Europe Awards are composed by four categories of: Health, Education, Accessibility and Public Services.   We’re looking for prototype apps in the areas of health, education & accessibility to help provide effective and efficient benefit to target users. The investment from the Vodafone Foundation will be dedicated to the further development of these apps in bringing them to market. Within the final category of mobilising public services, we will be looking for thought leadership papers exploring mobilising government services in the developed context.   More info:

Interesting for developers: Vodafone Innovation Awards 2013!

The objective of the awards, presented by the Fundación Vodafone España (Vodafone Spain Foundation), is to support the development of innovative products and services supported by technological telecommunications which promise a wide impact in the information society for their interest, novelty and accessibility for all people. Vodafone Spain Foundation will award three prizes, under the heading of "Project Innovation Award in the field of Research and Development of Telecommunications", of 20,000€ each one. The three prizes awarded by Vodafone Spain Foundation respond to the following three categories: 1. Award to "Mobile for Good Application" development. This category will award a new application for smartphones that contributes to improving the quality of life, personal autonomy and the promotion of active aging and intergenerational solidarity. Applications submitted must have already reached the beta phase. 2. Award to "ICT Mobile for Good Solution" project. The projects submitted under this category must have completed its definition phase and be ready to begin its implementation phase. 3. Award to "Social ICT Entrepreneur ". To participate in this category, entrepreneur must be previously enrolled in Vodafone Spain programme "I undertake with Vodafone", to be applicable to their particular conditions. (
